Voice to Text Mac App
A Mac dictation app you download once. Unlimited local transcription on the free tier, with no account and no word cap.
Download FreeYou have already decided to dictate rather than type. What is left is choosing what to install, and most of the options make you commit before you can judge them: an account to sign up for, a word allowance that runs out mid-week, or audio sent to a server before you know whether you like the output.
How Harker helps
Harker is a direct download. There is no account step and no licence key: open it, allow the microphone, and dictation is available in every app on the machine. Nothing is held back until you register.
The free tier is the whole dictation product, not a sample of it — unlimited local transcription in 100+ languages, every Whisper model tier from nano to large, hold-to-talk and auto-paste. Premium is $7/month or $69/year ($5.75/month) and adds the writing layer on top: AI styles, formatting, grammar correction, translation and custom instructions. The transcription itself never becomes a paid feature.
It needs a Mac with Apple Silicon, and models download on demand, so a smaller model on an older machine is a real option rather than a downgrade you settle for. One thing it does not do: it dictates what you say at your cursor, and it does not transcribe recordings or sit in meetings. If that is what you came for, this is the wrong tool and the download will not change your mind.
How it works
- 1
Download it
A direct download, notarized for macOS. No account, no licence key, nothing to activate before it runs.
- 2
Pick a model
Nano for speed, large for accuracy on names and jargon, or anything between. Models download on demand, so you can change your mind later.
- 3
Choose a shortcut
Keep Cmd+Shift+Space or set your own. From then on it works in every app on the Mac, and nothing else about your setup changes.
Harker saves me hours every week. It's become a core part of how I vibe-code apps and move from idea to working product faster.

Charles Green
Harker changed how I design. I talk through ideas, let my thoughts wander, and then drop those transcripts into AI generators. What used to take hours of writing prompts now starts with a simple voice note. Plus, the app itself is beautiful.
